Introduction

Disaster Response Tent

Dirty Boots and RecueNet are developing a tent specifically designed for first responders in humanitarian disaster relief efforts.

This highly-mobile tent is easy to transport and can be quickly expanded or reduced in size.

Teams need to swiftly set up a safe and sheltered space from which they can work efficiently.

Disaster zones are dynamic environments, where the center of relief operations may need to relocate frequently. The Dirty Boots Disaster Response Tent (DRT) is designed for quick setup and takedown.

Lightweight

Lightweight

Revolutionairy AirBeam technology

Thanks to revolutionary AirBeam technology with Dyneema fibers, the inflatable tent is significantly lighter than alternatives. The patent pending AirBeam joints ensure improved ruggedness, wind stability and even cost effectiveness.

The tent fabric itself is made from lightweight but durable ripstop SilPoly, resulting in a weight of just under 10kg per tent.

Depending on matter of transport, the total weight is between 10-15 kg, including bag/duffel, pump, pegs and hammer.

Backpack

Thanks to its lightweight design and convenient packaging, the tent can be carried as a backpack.

The backpack also includes a pump, allowing the tent to be inflated in under five minutes.

It comes with tent pegs and even has space for a hammer.

Sustainability and transport

Working closely with RescueNet’s field teams, Gert Jan’s design was evaluated from both practical and organizational perspectives to ensure it meets the real-world challenges teams face.

The result?

A purpose-built, easy-to-deploy tent that empowers aid workers and humanitarian organisations to set up quickly in critical environments, helping them respond faster and more effectively.

As RescueNet’s Head of Logistics, Gert Jan knows firsthand the challenges of reaching and operating in disaster-stricken areas. Traditionally tents and field hospitals are among the biggest materials to transport, therefore it takes longer to deploy, more large equipment to ship and it’s usually a big hassle to get things there as quick as they are needed.

The Disaster Response Tent by Dirty Boots is a great solution to this problem. It is:

Compact

Fits in a backpack, duffle or crate

Lightweight

Easy to carry, reduces costs of transportation

Quick to setup

Because of the inflatable beams, the tent is ready for use in just 5 minutes

Asset to aid

A saver of time, costs, personnel, backs and even lives

Modular

Modular design

The tent is modular in design. Its shape can be adjusted to form a long tunnel and it can be connected from side to side to other units. The shape can be adapted to different situations by using the various elements.
Of course the tent can be used as a single tent too.

Thanks to the modular design, it is even possible to create a complete field hospital that meets the necessary requirements.

With entrances at both the front and back, it allows for easy movement of patients or medical equipment. Although compact, the tent is surprisingly spacious inside, with the option to create separate areas for toilets or showers or the privacy of patients.

Quick Deploy

The tent can be set up by a single person and is ready within five minutes.

Modular configurations take slightly longer.

Its convenient design makes it easy to dismantle, enabling it to be relocated several times a day if necessary.

Materials

High-end materials

Quick deploy humanitarian aid tent made from silpoly dyneema fibers high quality shelter

The tent is made from silicon coated ripstop polyester, ensuring that you and your valuable equipment stay dry and protected.

Polyester is chosen for its capabilities of keeping the tent taut when wet, allowing full use of the space without concern for leaks or sag.

The materia]l is resistant to bacteria and can be cleaned with mild soap and water. It can also be disinfected with chlorine solution.

The tent is UV-resistant, offering protection against harmful UV rays, even under intense sunlight, without fading in color.

The standard tent is not flame retardant, as that would add significant weight, but this option is available on request.

Design options

The Disaster Relief tent has a standard design, but can be made to your requirements.

The standard color of the tent is blue, chosen for its ability to provide shade and minimize internal discoloration. The blue color avoids confusion with military colors, making it clear in humanitarian situations that it is a neutral space.

Other colors can be made upon request, and logos can also be printed on the tent.

The standard version comes in a summer variant, which features a single-layer fabric with an awning and connecting piece, providing excellent ventilation.
A winter version, featuring a full outer tent and the option to connect an external heater, is also available upon request.

The tent can be made with flame-resistant materials if desired, though this will add weight.

If your organization has specific design requirements, feel free to contact us so we can tailor the tent to your preferences.
